Baseball Splits with Lewis & Clark

Ingold hits his 17th homer of the year.
Springfield, IL – Lewis & Clark won the first game of the double-header 3-2.  Lewis & Clark scored 1 run in the first inning and 2 runs in the fourth which was enough to hold on to win.  
 
Logger designated hitter, Mike Fitzgerald and second baseman, Kyle Forsythe went 2-for-3 in the first game.  Fitzgerald and Forsythe were the only Loggers with multiple hits.  Both of the Logger runs came in the third inning.  Kyle Forsythe led off the inning with a single to left center.  Cory Fanning then doubled to left center and drive in Forsythe.  With two outs, Mike Fitzgerald singled up the middle to drive in Fanning.
 
Bryce Sablotny was the losing pitcher.  Sablotny’s record dropped to 9-3 on the year.
 
Seth Hale and Kyle Forsythe collected three hits each in the 14-6 win over Lewis & Clark.  Ryan Aper and Jake Ingold added two hits each.  Ryan Aper and Jake Ingold homered for the Loggers. Ingold collected 4 of his 6 RBIs in the 5th inning.  Kyle Forsythe led off the inning with a single, followed by Blake Gand and Mike Fitzgerald reaching base safely.  Ingold then hit his 17 homerun on the year clearing the bases.
 
Brandon Shaw was the winning pitcher, going 6.2 innings.  Shaw gave up 10 hits, allowed 6 runs and struck out 6.  Shaw increased his record to 7-1.
 
The Loggers will travel to Godfrey, Illinois tomorrow to play the last regular season double-header with Lewis & Clark.
