He played one year of baseball at LLCC, but still holds the college record for ERA at 1.8. He had a batting average of .381. Pat was drafted by the Houston Astros in the second round in 1978. He was with the Astros organization for five years before joining the St. Louis Cardinal organization. Since September 1985, he has been in the major leagues as a left-handed relief pitcher. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds where he finished the 1987 season with one victory, one save, and .00 ERA for 15 innings.
