Lincoln Land Community College Athletics

While at Lincoln Land Community College, Johnie participated in basketball and track.  He was named Most Valuable Player for basketball and holds the LLCC high jump record of 6’4”.  Additionally, he was selected to the All Conference team of the Central Illinois Athletic Conference in 1971.  While at Eastern Illinois University he set the school high jump record of 6’7”.  Completing both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education, he went on to teach in the Rich East High School and Havana High School.  He coached both boys and girls track and remains active competing at the master’s level in track and field.
