2477Gene Vincent – Basketball 1969-1971 and Baseball 1970-1971
Vincent was twice a letter-winner in basketball and baseball (1969-1971) and also helped the track team in 1970.  He was a point guard and defensive specialist for the Loggers in basketball and catcher on the baseball team. As a freshman, Gene caught every game but one while hitting .300. Because Gene was needed on the family farm, bowling gained his athletic ability. He has won numerous state and Decatur titles as well as the Professional Bowlers Association 50 national title, three Springfield Round-the-Town tournaments and countless others. Gene has been elected to three bowling hall of fames and holds two world records in bowling.
