Before coming to Lincoln Land Community College, Dick Dhabalt career was marked by his participation as a student athlete and a high school teacher and coach. While at Bradley University, he played on the team that won the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) in 1987, and was a Hall of Fame team member on the 1986-87 basketball teams. Dick taught at Rock Falls High School for one year and Rich Township High School for eight years prior to joining the Lincoln Land staff. As a founding faculty member of LLCC, Dick served the college for 23 years until his retirement in August of 1993. His time at the college includes 20 years as head men’s basketball coach, 20 years as athletic director, and 25 years as an instructor of physical education and mathematics. He was selected by the NJCAA to serve as the Region IV assistant director and then as director of Region XXIV. The NJCAA inducted Dick into the Region XXIV Hall of Fame in 1991. As the first athletic director for LLCC, he started and developed 11 sports.
