LLCC names new men's basketball coach
 
SPRINGFIELD – Lincoln Land Community College has named Chuck Shanklin as the new head men's basketball coach. He replaces Chad Jones, who will be coaching the women's basketball team next season for the Loggers.
 
Shanklin returns to LLCC with more than 20 years of high school and collegiate coaching experience. He previously served as assistant men's coach at LLCC from 1995-97. He was most recently the varsity assistant for Springfield Southeast High School. The Spartans placed second in the 2017-18 3A IHSA State Tournament. Prior to that, he was head coach at Lanphier High School. During the 2011-12 season, his team maintained a No. 1 state ranking throughout the regular season, won the City Championship, was the Central State 8 undefeated Conference Champion and finished fourth in the 3A IHSA State Tournament. He was also named District 18 IBCA Coach of the Year for 2011-12.
